Mumbai:The resignation of Captian Amarinder Singh as Punjab's Chief Minister was Congress' internal matter and no other party's concern, said Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut. Speaking to reporters on Sunday, Raut, who is the party's chief spokesperson and the executive editor of Sena's mouthpiece Saamna, said "Chief ministers and ministers keep changing. What is the big deal? Earlier, we saw what happened in states like Gujarat and Uttarakhand. Now Captain Amarinder Singh has resigned as Punjab Chief Minister and it is Congress' internal matter."
"Punjab is a sensitive state. It is a border state. We should all focus on that aspect," Raut further said.
Earlier when Gujarat CM Vijay Rupani resigned, Raut had opined that the change may have been made by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in view of the state Assembly elections due late next year.
Captain Amarinder Singh resigned as the chief minister of Punjab shortly before a Congress Legislature Party (CLP) on Saturday evening, declaring he felt "humiliated" over the way the party handled the infighting in the state party unit. The Congress veteran also said he won't accept state Congress chief Navjot Singh Sidhu as the next CM and described him as "a total disaster."
