Bhubaneswar:A poverty-stricken, ailing woman, gave birth to four baby girls at SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack, thanks to the timely help by Ollywood actor and philanthropist Sabyasachi Mishra. On learning about the pitiable condition of a woman from Sarankul in Bhanjanagar, carrying quadruplets in her womb, Mishra promptly swung into action and arranged a private ambulance with a medical team that shifted her to SCB Medical College and Hospital.

Multiple tests conducted on the woman established that she was suffering from sickle cell, severe jaundice and anaemia. As she was carrying four foetuses in her womb, the doctors had to take a special approach in treating her. Specialist doctors from the departments of gynaecology, haematology and hepatology took a multidisciplinary approach and followed a unique procedure to ensure that the woman delivered the four infants under normal procedure without any surgical intervention.
