New Delhi:Afghan refugees living in India are troubled by the Taliban's occupation of their country and are constantly making rounds of the embassies. In the current situation, they are allowed to live in India with a United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) certificate. However, they are asking for asylum status. After getting refugee status, they will have more facilities and will also gain some rights.
Ali Sena, a 32-year-old resident of Kabul, waited for hours outside the US embassy. On his request, the embassy did accept his application, but he has little hope of getting the visa for America. Ali Sena's entire family is in Afghanistan. He has an eight-month-old daughter and elderly parents. His family in Afghanistan has been living in fear since the Taliban captured Kabul. Ali's brother has been an officer in the Afghan National Army. Ali now fears that the Taliban may harm his family.
