Hyderabad:Air India on Monday confirmed that its commercial flight operations to Kabul have been stalled due to the closure of Afghanistan airspace. Meanwhile, Air India's AI 126 Chicago-Delhi flight has been diverted to Gulf airspace following the developments. A NOTAM (notice to airmen) has also been issued in this regard. Several major airlines have diverted their flights to avoid Afghanistan airspace after the Taliban took control of the presidential palace in the capital.

India's flag carrier, Air India on Monday said that its commercial flight operations to Kabul have been stalled as the Afghanistan air space has been closed. A NOTAM (notice to airmen) has also been issued in this regard. Several major airlines have diverted their flights to avoid Afghanistan airspace after insurgents took control of the presidential palace in the capital.

Currently, Air India flights from the United States are being diverted to a Gulf nation for refuelling purposes, reports say, adding that Air India is chalking out new routes for upcoming flights bound to the US from India.
