It is still possible to fight in the darkness of night, but fighting in the fog is a big challenge for BSF jawans. Due to the thick fog, the BSF jawans in charge of security at the India-Bangladesh border have to suffer.
On November 11, 2020, a Bangladeshi was shot dead by BSF at the Indo-Bangladesh border near Bhujaripara in Par Mekhliganj. Allegedly, the person was trying to enter India from Bangladesh by crossing the barbed wire fence. The deceased was identified as Mohammad Kharinul Rahman, a resident of Nilphamari, Bangladesh.
Anil Kumar Singh, Commandant, 65th Battalion said, "We have to deal with various problems due to heavy fog in winter. Visibility is reduced to less than 20 meters which makes our job difficult. During this time we have to petrol more frequently."
"We have to take care of the border and it is our national duty," said another BSF soldier.
