Kolkata (West Bengal): The actress-turned-politician and Trinamool Congress Lok Sabha member from Basirkat constituency, Nusrat Jahan on Thursday gave birth to a baby boy at a private hospital at Park Street Kolkata, West Bengal. According to hospital sources, both Jahan and the baby are doing fine and under the watchful eye of the doctors.
Yash Dasgupta, Jahan's actor-friend was present at the hospital at the time of the delivery and is reportedly taking good care of both the mother and the baby.
Since the beginning, Jahan's pregnancy was shrouded in controversy.
However, she did not pay much heed to the controversies and enjoyed her pregnancy thoroughly backed by the support of Dasgupta. During that period she shared many pictures where she was seen cradling her baby bump.
"Kindness changes everything (sic)," the caption of one of her posts read.

In June this year, she confronted a lot of controversies over her statement that as per the court of law, she does not require divorce with Nikhil Jain as her marriage was not legal in India.
However, she was trolled for quoting her records as an MP which showed Jain as her husband.
It is learnt that she reached the hospital on Wednesday night along with Dasgupta.
Before reaching the hospital she even paid a visit to the house of Dasgupta. Immediately after she was admitted the entire hospital was wrapped under tight security cover.
The TMC MP married the Kolkata-based businessman Jain in June 2019 in Turkey. The wedding ceremony was conducted according to the Turkish Marriage Regulation.
Their marriage was surrounded by controversies after Nusrat in her statement also accused Nikhil Jain of mishandling her money and alleged that his family members have held back the jewellery given to her by her parents. "The one who claims to be "rich" and "been used by me" has been taking money from my account by accessing my bank accounts illegally and by illegitimate means at odd hours of the night, even post-separation.
I have already taken this up with the concerned banking authority and a police complaint shall be filed shortly," she said in the statement.
Jain has claimed that the couple has not been together for the last six months. The indifferences between Nusrat and him became public recently after both of them made startling revelations against each other.
Jain initially said he didn't want to comment as the matter is in court.

Later, the businessman revealed that he pressed Jahan several times to get their marriage registered in India, but she avoided these requests all the time. The issue snowballed into a political controversy as the BJP jumped into the scene alleging that the film actress had cheated the people by claiming that she is married.
