Tumakuru: Chief Minister Basavaraja Bommayi has announced a compensation of Rs 5 lakh for each family of those who died in the accident near Shira in Tumkur. Speaking to the media today at Vidhansouda, he said, .'This is unfortunate. Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted his tributes. 9 people died in the accident. They said that they will give five lakh compensation to the families of the deceased.
As many as nine persons died and 12 were injured in a road accident in the Shira taluka of Tumakuru district of Karnataka late on Wednesday night. The incident took place when a lorry and a cruiser collided near the Balenahalli gate area, police said.
Police sources said that out of those injured four are in critical condition and have been admitted to a government hospital in the district. They further revealed that about 20 passengers were in the cruiser at the time of the accident.
