30-year-old woman raped in Mumbai, chilling reminder of Nirbhaya case

The Mumbai police have identified and arrested Mohan Chauhan in connection with the case. If reports are to believed, Mumbai police control room received information of a woman being assaulted at around 3 am on Friday.

Mumbai:A woman was brutally raped and tortured on Khairani Road in Sakinaka on Thursday—a shocking incident which grimly reminded the ordeals endured by Nirbhaya in Delhi nearly 9 years ago.

According to reports, the accused individuals tortured the woman by inserting a rod into her genitalia.

The Mumbai police have identified and arrested Mohan Chauhan in connection with the case. If reports are to believed, Mumbai police control room received information of a woman being assaulted at around 3 am on Friday.

Police found the woman on Khairani road and rushed her to Rajawadi Hospital where she was admitted in critical condition.

The medical staff at the hospital has informed that the woman continues to be critical condition and has suffered grievous injuries in her genital parts.

Police have recorded the statement of Chauhan and he has been charged under sections 307, 376, 323 and 504 of the Indian Penal Code.

Police are investigating whether more accused are involved in the crime, Deputy Commissioner of Police Maheshwari Reddy said.
