Aurangabad (Bihar): A cylinder blast occurred during the making of Chhath Prasad in Aurangabad of Bihar. More than 30 people were injured in the blast at a house in Sahebganj that falls under the jurisdiction of Nagar police station limits. Many police personnel were also injured in the blast.
Over 30 people, including policemen, were injured in a cylinder blast while making 'Chhath prasad' at a house in Bihar's Aurangabad in the early hours of Saturday, officials said. The incident took place at 3 am at Sahebganj locality of Nagar police station. It is learnt that Chhath Puja was performed in the house of Anil Goswami in ward number 24.
Locals said that the family members were busy making prasad when the gas cylinder suddenly caught fire due to a gas leak. The locals tried to extinguish the flames, however, the raging flames overwhelmed them. Later, the locals called the police and in turn, they alerted a nearby fire brigade after which a fire engine rushed to the spot and started extinguishing the fire.
However, the gas cylinder exploded in the house and over 30 people sustained burn injuries. Police and fire brigade personnel are also among the injured. The injured were rushed to Aurangabad Sadar Hospital for treatment. Among the injured cops is female constable Preeti Kumari, DAP Akhilesh Kumar, Jaglal Prasad, SAP jawan Mukund Rao, Jaglal Prasad and a driver. The condition of around 25 people is said to be critical.
