29 year old pregnant doctor dies due to Covid-19

Chennai:Karthiga, a 29-year-old pregnant doctor has succumbed to Covid-19 in Chennai. She hailed from the Polur area of Tiruvannamalai district. She was working at Tiruvannamalai Government Hospital.

The doctor was eight-month pregnant at the time of her demise. Her family recently held a 'Seemantham' (baby shower) ritual in their residence. But the event turned out to be a 'superspreader' after several of the deceased doctor's family members tested Covid positive later.

Karthiga was infected with Covid-19 and suffered breathing troubles. She was moved to Chennai for treatment, where she was treated with oxygen support. However, her health deteriorated and eventually succumbed to the deadly virus on Sunday.
