Mandya (Karnataka):As many as 28 students studying in Class XI and Class XII at Pre-University College in Mandya district have tested positive for Covid. A total of 412 students are studying in Government Girls Pre-University College located at Nagamangala town in Mandya district and most of the girls hail from rural areas.
As many as 372 out of 412 students underwent the Covid test and 19 girls tested positive for Covid. Later, some students, who had primary contact with infected girls again underwent the Covid test and nine more students tested positive. The college will remain closed for seven days after sanitisation.
Pre-University College in Mandya district All 28 infected students are undergoing treatment at Government Hospital in Nagamangala. Later, they will be shifted to Covid Care Centre of BCM hostel at Kotebetta road in the town. "We are providing proper treatment and necessary measures will be taken for their speedy recovery," said taluk health officer.
Earlier in the week, 60 students of Sri Chaitanya Girls' Residential School in Bengaluru, tested positive for Covid on September 26. The Covid tests were conducted on 480 students as one of the students from Bellary developed Covid-like symptoms. The girls, who tested positive are from Classes XI and XII. Forty-six students, who tested positive belong to different districts of Karnataka and 14 students are from Tamil Nadu.
