Ambassa (Tripura): As the Covid-19 pandemic has steadily tightened its grip over Tripura with new cases and death counts setting new records every day, altogether, 25 Covid-19 patients from a Covid care facility in Tripura's Dhalai district succeeded to give the security arrangements a slip and escaped Ambassa Covid care centre late on Monday night.
However, owing to prompt police action seven of them were detained from the local railway station, rest of them could not be traced so far. Sources said, Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb, who holds the health portfolio too is slated to visit the place for inspection on May 12 and this incident prior to his visit sent the administration into a tizzy.
According to reports, on May 07 last, a total of 62 migrant labourers from different parts of the country arrived at Ambassa by train. All of them underwent mandatory testing and found to be carriers of the infection. They were kept at the PRTI building for treatment. But, at around 1:00 am in the night yesterday, 25 patients fled from the building, breaking the iron grill entrance. The official posted there for delivering food in the morning first noticed the matter and raised a hue and cry.
