'Arrested Chinese national smuggled 1,300 Indian SIM cards to China'

The Chinese national, who was apprehended by BSF revealed that he has sent at least 1,300 Indian SIM cards to his country in undergarments. He revealed that even before this he has come to India four times.

New Delhi: The Chinese national, who was apprehended by the Border Security Force (BSF) on Thursday, along the India-Bangladesh border in West Bengal, has revealed that he has sent around 1,300 SIM cards to his country. The BSF on Friday said that the Chinese national identified as Han Junwe, has been handed over to the local police station in Gulabganj, Kaliachak for further legal proceedings along with seized items.

As per the sources, the alleged spy will be handed over to a five-member team of UP ATS as the Chinese man and his wife has already had a case against them in Uttar Pradesh. His partner Sun Jiang was already arrested by UP ATS a few days ago on several charges. According to the statement by BSF South Bengal Frontier, Han Junwe has been a wanted criminal and upon thorough interrogation. Shocking facts have come to the fore that Han Junwe has so far smuggled around 1,300 Indian SIMs to China using fake documents from India.

"Han Junwe, through his associates, used to hide the SIM in undergarments and send these to China. These SIMs were used to hack accounts and to do other kinds of financial frauds. Their purpose was to cheat people using SIM to get their money out of money transaction machines," added BSF in the statement.

During an interrogation by the BSF on Thursday, the Chinese intruder told that even before this he has come to India four times. He had come to Hyderabad in 2010 and Delhi, Gurugram thrice after 2019. He has a hotel in Gurugram named 'Star Spring and some of his colleagues in this hotel are from China and the rest of the Indian people have been employed. Junwei Han was caught with a Chinese Passport with Bangladesh Visa, an Apple laptop, two mobile phone, one Bangladeshi, one Indian and two Chinese SIM cards, two pendrives, five money transaction machines, two ATM cards, and US dollars, Bangladeshi taka and Indian currency.
