Beed: Three persons were killed and two others injured after being mowed down by a Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) bus in Beed district on Sunday morning.
The mishap occurred at around 6 am near Ghodka Rajuri village in Beed when the speeding bus ran over a group of youths who were undergoing training for police recruitment. Three youths succumbed to their injuries on the spot.
The bus (MH-14 BT 1403) was heading from Beed to Parbhani when the group was practicing along the roadside. Two of the youths made a narrow escape by jumping out of the way on time but suffered injuries. However, eyewitnesses said that three youths were ran over by the bus and died on the spot.
The deceased have been identified as Babasaheb More alias Balu (20), Virat Babruwan Ghodke (19) and Om Sugriv Ghodke (20). The injured were rushed to the Beed district hospital, where they are currently undergoing treatment.
On information, a police team reached the spot and a case was registered in connection with the accident. Also, the three bodies have been shifted to the Beed district hospital for post-mortem, officials said.
Following the accident, angry villagers vandalised the bus and demanded jobs for the family members of the deceased.
