4 Gangsters Killed In Encounter With STF In Uttar Pradesh's Shamli; Cop Sustains Gunshot Wounds

A wanted criminal Arshad, and three associates were killed in a Shamli encounter. STF Inspector Sunil was injured and hospitalised.

Shamli:In a crackdown on the notorious Mustafa Kagga gang, Uttar Pradesh STF gunned down four persons in an encounter on Monday night. One of the deceased persons had a reward of Rs 1 lakh on his head. In the exchange of fire between the STF team and the gangsters, the inspector of the Special Task Force leading the team also received a gunshot. He has been admitted to a hospital in Gurugram. The STF also recovered weapons from the miscreants.

STF ASP Brijesh Kumar said the Meerut unit of UP STF was engaged in a gunfight with gangsters at around 2 am on Monday in the Jhinjhana area of ​​Shamli. When the STF team surrounded the criminals who were riding a car, they started firing. Several rounds of firing took place between both sides. In this, the main member of the gang Arshad, who had a reward of Rs 1 lakh, along with his three associates Manjeet, a resident of Sonipat, Satish, a resident of Karnal, and another unidentified gangster, were killed. All of them used to commit crimes for the same gang.

At the same time, during the firing, inspector Sunil, who was leading the team, also got hit by a bullet. He was admitted to a hospital in Karnal in critical condition. Later, he was referred to Medanta Hospital in Gurugram. His condition was critical but currently stable.

Arshad, a resident of Bahdi Mazra village of Thana Gangoh in Saharanpur district, was wanted in many cases. Many serious cases were registered against him. These include cases of murder, robbery, and looting under the Arms Act. According to the STF, several cases of robbery and other cases were registered against Arshad in Behat of Saharanpur.

Cases were also registered against Arshad in many police stations of Muzaffarnagar and Shamli. Apart from these, a case of fraud and criminal conspiracy was registered against him in the Panipat district of Haryana.

Brijesh Kumar termed the encounter a big success for the Uttar Pradesh Police. According to him, the elimination of a notorious criminal like Arshad would strengthen law and order in the area.

One of the four gangsters killed in Shamli is identified as Satish Kumar, hailing from the Sheikhpura village of Sonipat district in Haryana, a report from Karnal said. Satish Kumar has been living in the Ashok Vihar Colony of the Madhuban area of ​​Karnal since 2015, the report said. His father was a sub-inspector in the Haryana Police and was working as a drill instructor in HAP. He passed away in 2017. Satish's wife also died four years ago.
