Shamli:In a crackdown on the notorious Mustafa Kagga gang, Uttar Pradesh STF gunned down four persons in an encounter on Monday night. One of the deceased persons had a reward of Rs 1 lakh on his head. In the exchange of fire between the STF team and the gangsters, the inspector of the Special Task Force leading the team also received a gunshot. He has been admitted to a hospital in Gurugram. The STF also recovered weapons from the miscreants.
STF ASP Brijesh Kumar said the Meerut unit of UP STF was engaged in a gunfight with gangsters at around 2 am on Monday in the Jhinjhana area of Shamli. When the STF team surrounded the criminals who were riding a car, they started firing. Several rounds of firing took place between both sides. In this, the main member of the gang Arshad, who had a reward of Rs 1 lakh, along with his three associates Manjeet, a resident of Sonipat, Satish, a resident of Karnal, and another unidentified gangster, were killed. All of them used to commit crimes for the same gang.
At the same time, during the firing, inspector Sunil, who was leading the team, also got hit by a bullet. He was admitted to a hospital in Karnal in critical condition. Later, he was referred to Medanta Hospital in Gurugram. His condition was critical but currently stable.
