Lucknow:The BJPemerged victorious in six of the nine assembly constituencies in Uttar Pradesh where by-elections were held on November 20. The party's ally, the Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD), clinched one seat, while the Samajwadi Party (SP) secured the remaining two.
BJP's Victory in Multiple Seats
The BJP's candidates were successful across several constituencies. In Ghaziabad, Sanjeev Sharma won with a massive margin of 69,351 votes, polling 96,946 votes against SP's Singh Raj Jatav. In Khair, Surender Diler triumphed over SP's Charu Kain by 38,393 votes. The Phulpur seat was claimed by BJP's Deepak Patel, who secured 78,289 votes, defeating SP's Md Mujtaba Siddiqui by 11,305 votes.
Ramveer Singh and Others BJP Wins
In Kundarki, BJP's Ramveer Singh won decisively, defeating SP's Mohammad Rizwan by over 1.44 lakh votes. Majhawan saw BJP's Suchismita Maurya securing 77,737 votes, defeating SP's Jyoti Bind by 4,922 votes. BJP's Dharmraj Nishad also won the Katehari seat, overcoming SP's Shobhawati Varma by 34,514 votes.
SP Secures Two Seat
The SP claimed victory in Karhal and Sishamau. In Karhal, SP's Tej Pratap Yadav defeated BJP's Anujesh Pratap Singh by 14,725 votes. The seat became vacant after SP leader Akhilesh Yadav's election to the Lok Sabha. In Sishamai, SP's Naseem Solanki won by 8,564 votes, overcoming BJP's Suresh Awasthi.
RLD's Success
In Meerapur, RLD's Mithilesh Pal claimed victory, defeating SP's Sumbul Rana by 30,796 votes.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for BJP's victory in Uttar Pradesh bypolls and said the results make it clear that the SP-INDIA bloc's politics of 'loot and lies' is coming to an end.
Currently, BJP holds 251 seats in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly, with the SP at 105 seats. BJP allies, including Apna Dal (Sonelal), RLD, Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party (SBSP) and NISHAD party, control additional seats. The Congress and Jansatta Dal Loktantrik each hold two seats, while the BSP has one seat.
In the 2022 Uttar Pradesh Assembly Elections, the BJP had secured Pjulpur, Ghaziabad, Majhawan, and Khair, while the SP had won Sisamau, Katehari, Karhal, and Kundarki. The RLD, an SP ally at the time, had claimed the Meerapur seat but has since joined the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA).
