New Delhi: At least eleven people were killed and four others severely injured in a fire in a paint factory at Dayalpur Market in Alipur, North Delhi, on Thursday evening, the Delhi Police confirmed.
The charred bodies of some victims were found on the premises of the factory located in Alipur's Dayalpur Market, an official said. Among those four admitted to the hospital, one is a police officer who got wounded during the rescue operation. They have been identified as Jyoti (42), Divya (20), Mohit Solanki (34) and Karambir, a Delhi police constable.
Shortly after the fire broke out, three Delhi Fire Services tenders reached the spot to douse the flames. The DFS official also said that a call about the episode was received at 5.25 pm, thereafter, 22 fire tenders were pressed into service as the fire rapidly caught up. The blaze had been brought on by around 9 pm, he said, adding that the cooling-off operation was underway.
