Dausa: The 5-year-old boy who was stuck in a 150-feet borewell in Rajasthan's Dausa since Monday was declared dead at a hospital here after he was pulled out on Wednesday night following a rescue operation that lasted 55 hours.
The extensive rescue operation saw teams working with heavy equipment to reach Aryan who fell in the borewell while playing on December 9. The rescue operation to extricate him was launched an hour after the incident happened at Kalikhad village at around 3 pm on Monday.
5-Year-Old Boy, Trapped In 150 Feet Deep Borewell For 55 Hours, Dies In Rajasthan's Dausa (ANI) The child was pulled out of the borewell in an unconscious state on Wednesday night and was rushed to a hospital where he was declared dead. The Chief Medical Officer in Dausa said that multiple attempts were made to resuscitate Aryan but all went in vain.
"The child was brought here so that we could try and revive him if possible...we did ECG twice but the child was dead," said Dausa CMO. Earlier Wednesday, according to District Collector Devendra Kumar, the rescue officials had to bring in a second machine for the operations after the first one had broken down.
How Did Aryan Fall Into The Borewell?
Aryan accidentally fell into the borewell while he was playing near his house at Kalikhad village and his mother was around at the time of the incident, said Nangal Circle Officer Charul Gupta.
Extensive Rescue Operation
The boy was rescued after an over 55-hour-long operation but all efforts went in vain as the child breathed his last at the hospital. The rescue operation began an hour after the boy fell into the borewell.
A parallel pit was dug using drilling machines to reach the child. National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) personnel said there were myriad challenges in the operation, including the water level estimated to be around 160 feet.
The challenges faced during the operation included capturing the boy's movements on camera, being hindered by underground steam and safety concerns for the rescue staff.
