Rajasthan Bypolls: BJP Sweeps Five Seats, Congress And BAP Claim One Each

BJP dominated Rajasthan bypolls, winning five seats, while Congress and BAP claimed one each.

Jaipur: The BJP emerged victorious in five out of seven Rajasthan Assembly bypolls, the results of which were announced on Saturday. The Congress and Bharat Adivasi Party (BAP) each secured one seat. The bypolls were held on November 13, with key contests in Jhunjhunu, Dausa, Khinwsar, Salumber, and other constituencies.

BJP's Strong Performance Across Constituencies

The BJP secured wins in Jhujhunu, Deoli-Uniara, Khinwsar, Salumber, and Ramgarh. In Jhunjhunu, BJP's Rajendra Bhamboo triumphed with over 42,000 votes, while Rajendra Gurjar won Deoli-Uniara by a margin of over 41,000 votes.

Rewant Ram Danga clinched Khinwsar, defeating RLP's Kanika Beniwal by nearly 14,000 votes, marking a significant loss for the Rashtriya Loktantrik Party (RLP), which had held the seat since its inception in 2008. Shanta Amrit Lal Meena won Salumber with over 12,000 votes, while Sukhvant Singh Secured Ramgarh, a seat that had frequently shifted between the BJP and Congress, with a margin of over 13,000 votes.

Congress Holds on to Dausa

In Dausa, the Congress won with Deen Dayal securing a victory over BJP's Jag Mohan Meena, the brother of BJP cabinet minister Kirodi Lal Meena by a margin of 2,300 votes. This loss is seen as a blow to Kirodi Lal Meena's influence in the region. A partial recounting of votes was requested by the BJP.

BAP Retains Chorasi

Bharat Adivasi Party (BAP) candidate Anil Kumar Katara won the Chorasi seat, which the party retained, strengthening its position in the Rajasthan Assembly with four MLAs.

The results leave the BJP with a strengthened position in the 200-member Assembly, while the Congress and BAP retain limited gains.

Polling was held on November 13 in Jhunjhunu, Ramgarh, Dausa, Deoli-Uniara, Khinvsar, Salumbar and Chaurasi.

Counting of EVM votes of Jhunjhunu and Salumbar assembly constituencies was completed in 22 rounds each, Ramgarh in 21 rounds, Deoli-Uniara and Khinvsar assembly constituencies in 20 rounds each, Dausa and Chaurasi in 18 rounds each.
