Shravasti: A tragic road accident occurred in the Ikouna police station area at Uttar Pradesh's Shravasti on Saturday, claiming the lives of five people and leaving seven others severely injured. The collision occurred at Mohanipur Tiraha when a Mahindra XUV, coming from Bahraich, collided with a tempo.
Both vehicles veered off the road and plunged into a 10-foot-deep pit, suffering severe damage. Emergency services rushed to the scene, and the injured were immediately admitted to the hospital for treatment.
According to the police, the tempo driver and four passengers were killed in the accident. "The injured were rushed to the Community Health Centre in Ikouna, where three were declared dead on arrival," said Inspector Ashwini Dubey. "The others were referred to the Joint District Hospital, where two more succumbed to their injuries," Inspector Dubey added.
The bodies of the deceased have been sent for post-mortem, and police are investigating the cause of the collision.
The deceased have been identified as Lallan (44), Nanke Yadav (30), Rafiq (40), Ayodhya Prasad (50), and Murlidhar (60). The injured include Subedar (70), Nageshwar Prasad (48), Shakira Bano (35), Vijay Chaudhary (32), Sohrabh (42), and Shivram (22).
