Uttar Pradesh: Five Killed, 7 Injured In Road Accident at Ikouna; CM Yogi Offers Condolences

Shravasti: A tragic road accident occurred in the Ikouna police station area at Uttar Pradesh's Shravasti on Saturday, claiming the lives of five people and leaving seven others severely injured. The collision occurred at Mohanipur Tiraha when a Mahindra XUV, coming from Bahraich, collided with a tempo.

Both vehicles veered off the road and plunged into a 10-foot-deep pit, suffering severe damage. Emergency services rushed to the scene, and the injured were immediately admitted to the hospital for treatment.

According to the police, the tempo driver and four passengers were killed in the accident. "The injured were rushed to the Community Health Centre in Ikouna, where three were declared dead on arrival," said Inspector Ashwini Dubey. "The others were referred to the Joint District Hospital, where two more succumbed to their injuries," Inspector Dubey added.

The bodies of the deceased have been sent for post-mortem, and police are investigating the cause of the collision.

The deceased have been identified as Lallan (44), Nanke Yadav (30), Rafiq (40), Ayodhya Prasad (50), and Murlidhar (60). The injured include Subedar (70), Nageshwar Prasad (48), Shakira Bano (35), Vijay Chaudhary (32), Sohrabh (42), and Shivram (22).

Police Circle Officer Satish Sharma and other officials reached the site to oversee the rescue operations. "The relief work was promptly carried out, and the injured were taken to the hospital for treatment," added Sharma.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed deep condolences to the families of the deceased and offered his support to the bereaved. In response to the incident, he directed officials to quickly reach the site and expedite relief efforts. Additionally, the district administration was instructed to ensure that the injured receive proper medical care and immediate transport to the hospital.

"I extend my heartfelt sympathies to the families of those who lost their lives in this tragic accident. Officials have been directed to provide swift relief and proper treatment to the injured," he said.

The Chief Minister also wished for the speedy recovery of those injured in the accident. Local authorities are investigating the cause of the collision while providing the necessary assistance to the affected families.
