Uttara Kannada (Karnataka): Two tires of a tanker lorry, which was washed away in the river Gangavali during a landslide near Ankola's Shiruru, were found during a search operation on Saturday. Further search is underway.
While searching with a dredging machine in the river Gangavali near Shiruru, a trace of a tire was found 15 feet away from the river bank. In this background, drowning expert Ishwara Malfe had dived into the river and tied a cable to the tire of the lorry. The dredging machine lifted two tires.
Earlier, it was assumed that the found tires were two wheels of a Bharat Benz lorry driven by Kerala-based driver Arjun. But now the newly-found lorry tire and cabin have been identified as belonging to the tanker that was washed away in the landslide. Two tires were found along with the front axle. Now search operation is continued for the lorry and the three missing persons at the same place.
A search operation has been started again for the missing people in the Gangavali river near Shiruru landslide. A dredging machine arrived from Goa with a barge cleared the soil in the marked area in the river on Friday evening and the search continued for the three missing persons and the lorry.
