Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir:In the fifth phase of Lok Sabha Elections 2024, Baramulla parliamentary constituency witnessed a surge in voter turnout, reaching 54.21 percent by 5 pm on Monday. This marked a significant rise compared to the earlier updates, indicating growing voter engagement as the polling day progressed.
Among the assembly segments within Baramulla, Handwara recorded the highest turnout at 66.76 percent, followed by Karnah at 56.65 percent and Langate at 60.08 percent. Notably, Sopore, which had one of the lowest turnouts in the early updates, showed a notable increase to 40.10 percent by 5 pm.
Similarly, Ladakh saw a notable increase in voter participation, with an overall turnout of 67.15 percent by 5 pm. Kargil reported the highest turnout at 71.45 percent, followed closely by Leh at 62.50 percent.
Compared with the earlier updates, the surge in Baramulla's turnout was remarkable. From 34.79 percent at 1 pm, it rose to 44.90 percent by 3 pm, further increasing to 54.21 percent by 5 pm. In Ladakh, the turnout also witnessed a significant rise from 52.02 percent at 1 pm to 67.15 percent by 5 pm.
In the 2019 elections, Baramulla had recorded a total voter turnout of 34.6 percent, while Ladakh saw a much higher turnout at 71.05 percent.

As of 3 pm in Phase 5 of the Lok Sabha Elections 2024, Jammu and Kashmir's Baramulla and Ladakh's solitary parliamentary constituency reported significant voter turnouts of 44.90 percent and 61.26 percent respectively. These figures indicate a notable increase from the earlier updates, reflecting a surge in voter participation as the day progresses.
In Jammu and Kashmir's Baramulla Lok Sabha constituency, Handwara recorded the highest turnout at 53.06 percent. Langate followed with 50.97 percent, and Uri saw a turnout of 50.20 percent. Karnah reported 48.17 percent, Rafiabad 47.48 percent, and Trehgam 47.17 percent. Lolab registered 46.97 percent, Bandipora 46.86 percent, and Sonawari 46.55 percent. Beerwah had a turnout of 46.00 percent, with Kupwara at 45.17 percent and Gulmarg at 44.99 percent. Pattan reported 43.02 percent, Wagoora - Kreeri 40.45 percent, Budgam 40.71 percent, and Baramulla 39.44 percent. Gurez (ST) recorded a turnout of 35.02 percent, and Sopore had the lowest at 31.11 percent.
Comparatively, earlier updates showed Baramulla’s overall turnout was 34.79 percent by 1 pm and 21.37 percent by 11 am. In Ladakh, Kargil reported the highest turnout at 66.05 percent, with Leh at 56.10 percent. The overall turnout for Ladakh was 52.02 percent by 1 p.m. and 27.87 percent by 11 am.
In 2019, the total voter turnout for the Baramulla Lok Sabha seat was 34.6 percent, while Ladakh had recorded 71.05 percent. The current turnout indicates a substantial increase for Baramulla, which has already surpassed its previous turnout with hours of voting still remaining.
As of the latest updates, Baramulla's turnout rose from 21.37 percent at 11 am to 44.90 percent at 3 pm, an increase of over 110 percent. Similarly, Ladakh's turnout increased from 27.87 percent at 11 am to 61.26 percent at 3 pm, marking a rise of approximately 120 percent.

In Baramulla, the highest turnout was recorded in Langate with 40.53 percent, followed closely by Uri at 38.47 percent and Handwara at 38.76 percent. Beerwah also showed strong voter participation with 38.00 percent, and Karnah reported a turnout of 37.61 percent. Rafiabad had a turnout of 37.58 percent, and Lolab saw 37.08 percent. Sonawari recorded 36.26 percent, with Trehgam at 35.78 percent and Bandipora at 35.77 percent.
