Gujarat: Nine Killed in Wall Collapse during Construction in Factory; Only Survivor Is A Labourer

In Gujarat's Mehsana district, nine persons died after soil caved in on them during masonry work at a factory in Jasalpur.

Mehsana:A major accident has happened in a factory near Jasalpur village in Mehsana, Gujarat, when a large chunk of soil collapsed on workers during the construction of a wall. In this incident, about nine persons including several labourers died while another person has been rescued by others present at the spot, according to officials.

The incident took place when masonry work was going on. On receiving information about the incident, the officials rushed to the spot and initiated rescue operations. This accident happened in Steel Inox Stainless Private Limited Company located in Jasalpur village. Questions have been raised about the safety measures taken at the incident spot.

A labourer, who escaped in the incident, recounted how it happened. The labourer was identified as Vinod Vasoya. He was among those working there at the site of the incident. He said that he along with nine others were working in the factory site and masonry work was going on at that time. "The incident happened at 12 o'clock at night. 10 of us were working and suddenly soil collapsed. I was inside. I was buried up to my eyes, then the people of the company took me out. I am the only survivor," he said.
