Jammu:In an effort to revive the party's influence in the region, the Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee President Tariq Hameed Karra has reached out to the people in different districts of the Jammu region.
The PCC President on Wednesday completed the tour of hilly districts of Jammu region barring Reasi, by addressing a workers' meeting in Kishtwar today. His tour started with a meeting in Udhampur on February 13 where he slammed the BJP government at the centre for their non-serious approach to restoring the statehood in Jammu and Kashmir.
Tariq Hameed Karra alleged that the BJP is not even adhering to the Supreme Court's direction on the restoration of statehood. Completing his visit to Chenab Valley on Wednesday, Karra cautioned that people are losing faith in the institutions of the Prime Minister and Home Minister. He also accused the Modi government of playing with the sentiments of the people of Jammu and Kashmir over the demand for restoration of statehood.
" The offices of the Prime Minister and Home Minister are revered institutions where every statement is considered a solemn promise and a matter of honour. However, the current situation, where people's trust is being repeatedly broken, is a clear breach of faith with far-reaching consequences that will be felt for a long time to come," Karra added.
The PCC President invoked the Supreme Court's direction to restore statehood in all the speeches throughout the tour. Karra was joined by PCC working presidents Tara Chand and Raman Bhalla, former MP Choudhary Lal Singh and other leaders on the tour.
