APPCC President YS Sharmila to embark on tour of districts in AP

In a major development, APPCC chief YS Sharmila declared that she would embark on a tour of districts from January 23. She vowed to work with commitment as she wanted to fulfil her late father and former Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy's wish for Rahul Gandhi to become the Prime Minister.

Vijayawada:In a significant announcement, President of the Andhra Pradesh Pradesh Congress Committee (APPCC) YS Sharmila declared her intent to embark on a tour of districts across Andhra Pradesh, commencing on January 23. Addressing the media at Andhra Ratna Bhavan, the state Congress office in Vijayawada on Sunday, Sharmila outlined key aspects of her political agenda.

YS Sharmila revealed her comprehensive plan to tour Andhra Pradesh's districts, scheduling visits to three districts per day. This tour, set to kick off on January 23, will include meetings with local leaders and activists, fostering direct engagement with the grassroots. Sharmila announced the initiation of an application process for individuals aspiring to contest as MPs and MLAs. This move signals a proactive approach to candidates' selection.

The APPCC president pledged to work steadfastly without betraying the trust reposed in her by the Congress leadership. Highlighting her dedication, Sharmila emphasised her commitment to fulfilling her father and former Chief Minister the late Rajasekhara Reddy's wish for Rahul Gandhi to become the Prime Minister.

Reflecting on past achievements, Sharmila attributed the ousting of a dictator in Telangana to the success of her padayatra. She asserted her independent political identity, stating that she is not a mere instrument left by someone, but has her own goals and aspirations. Sharmila reiterated that the merger of the party was orchestrated for the welfare of the people, underscoring her deep connection to Andhra Pradesh as her birthplace. She expressed her commitment to working freely in the best interest of the state.

YS Sharmila disclosed the Congress party's ambitious plans to contest all 175 Assembly seats and parliamentary seats in the upcoming elections, emphasising the party's determination to contribute significantly to the political landscape.
