New Delhi:Senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and former Delhi Chief Minister Atishi on Friday attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on the issue of Rs 2,500 promise made to Delhi women. Addressing a press conference at the AAP headquarters, Atishi said that PM Modi had promised in his Dwarka rally to give financial assistance to women by passing this scheme in the first cabinet meeting but it did not happen. Atishi asked whether Delhi's new Chief Minister Rekha Gupta will prove the promise of PM Modi and BJP National President JP Nadda to be a jumla (lie).
During the press conference, Atishi also released a poster asking the Delhi CM to clarify when women will get Rs 2500 financial assistance.
No announcement in the first cabinet meeting: After the formation of the new government in Delhi, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta took oath with her cabinet and held the first cabinet meeting at 7 pm on the same day. However, the scheme to give Rs 2,500 to women was not passed in this meeting. Atishi called it a breach of promise by the BJP and said that the 'guarantee' of the Modi government is proving to be just a slogan.
Atishi said that PM Modi himself had said from the stage that this scheme would be approved in the first cabinet meeting, but CM Rekha Gupta proved Modi's promise to be lie in the very first Cabinet meeting itself. She asked when the women of Delhi will get the money promised by the ruling BJP.
