New Delhi:Senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and former Delhi Chief Minister Atishi on Friday attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on the issue of Rs 2,500 promise made to Delhi women. Addressing a press conference at the AAP headquarters, Atishi said that PM Modi had promised in his Dwarka rally to give financial assistance to women by passing this scheme in the first cabinet meeting but it did not happen. Atishi asked whether Delhi's new Chief Minister Rekha Gupta will prove the promise of PM Modi and BJP National President JP Nadda to be a jumla (lie).

During the press conference, Atishi also released a poster asking the Delhi CM to clarify when women will get Rs 2500 financial assistance.

No announcement in the first cabinet meeting: After the formation of the new government in Delhi, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta took oath with her cabinet and held the first cabinet meeting at 7 pm on the same day. However, the scheme to give Rs 2,500 to women was not passed in this meeting. Atishi called it a breach of promise by the BJP and said that the 'guarantee' of the Modi government is proving to be just a slogan.

Atishi said that PM Modi himself had said from the stage that this scheme would be approved in the first cabinet meeting, but CM Rekha Gupta proved Modi's promise to be lie in the very first Cabinet meeting itself. She asked when the women of Delhi will get the money promised by the ruling BJP.

Will women get money by 8 March: Atishi said that PM Modi had appealed to women to link their bank accounts to their mobile numbers so that they can get a message about money coming into their account after the BJP government is formed. Now that the BJP government has been formed, Atishi whether CM Rekha Gupta will ensure that all women get this amount on 8 March.

Atishi also responded to the issue of CAG report raised by the BJP and said that as the Chief Minister, she had sent this report to the then Speaker Ram Niwas Goyal in the Assembly. Calling it a regular process, she said that every report is presented in the assembly session.

Targeting CM Rekha Gupta: During the press conference, Atishi said that Chief Minister Rekha Gupta had said after the cabinet meeting that 'the government is ours, the agenda is ours, we will decide what will happen'. Taking a dig at this, Atishi said that Rekha Gupta had just become the Chief Minister, but on the very first day, she proved the promises of PM Modi and JP Nadda to be false.

Atishi further said that now the question has arisen before the women of Delhi whether the BJP had made false promises to them. She sought an answer from CM Rekha Gupta as to when the scheme of giving Rs 2,500 to women will be implemented.
