Chennai: Chennai Super Kings started IPL 2024 on a winning note as they defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore by six wickets on Friday. Shivam Dube and Ravindra Jadeja played a crucial role in chase for the yellow army while Mustafizur Rehman was the pick of the bowlers for them with four wickets to his name.

Shivam Dube and Ravindra Jadeja took the side home as Chennai Super Kings started their season with a win at their home ground. At one point of time, it looked like the match was going away from CSK, but Dubey and Jadeja had other ideas as it was also a winning start for Ruturaj Gaikwad as a captain. - Over 15 (128/4)
Siraj hasn’t been at his best so far and has been expensive so far in the contest. He was introduced into the attack once again but both the batters played him with ease throughout the over. 46 runs from five overs required for CSK to win and keeping wickets in hand would serve them a victory. The CSK batters were looking to take the game away from RCB and so their bowlers seem to have adopted an approach to bowl short. First, Joseph and now Green started his over with a bouncer and Shivam Dube was beaten. Rachin first smacked him over a deep mid-wicket fielder for six and then tried to replicate the same shot, but couldn't connect it properly and found a mid-wicket fielder in the deep. There is no stopping for Rachin as he put away the bad ball to the boundary and cleared the fence on a nice delivery. Dayal bowled an inswinger, but it slid on the pads and the southpaw batter whacked it towards the square leg boundary for four and then took a single. Mohammed Siraj continues from the other end. He bowled one sliding down the leg stump and Ravindra nicely flicked it towards the square leg boundary for four and then took a single after a top edge past back the bowler's head. Ravindra must not have wanted to score his first runs with a French cut. However, he will still take it as it went to the boundary. Royal Challengers Bengaluru recovered to 173 for six against Chennai Super Kings in the IPL opener here on Friday. RCB skipper Faf du Plessis (35 off 23) got his team off the blocks before the visitors collapsed to 78 for five. Anuj Rawat (48 off 25) and Dinesh Karthik (38 not out off 26) shared a 95-run standoff 57 balls for the sixth wicket to give some respectability to the total.
Virat Kohli, who opened alongside du Plessis, made 21 off 20 in his first competitive game in more than two months. Mustafizur Rahman was the stand-out bowler for CSK taking four wickets.

Tushar Deshpande to bowl the final over of the innings. Will he be able to bring back the momentum in CSK's favour? We will have to see. He came down the track and tried to hit towards the sight screen, but couldn't get a proper connection and still managed to cross the boundary line. Dinesh Karthik looked in a good touch today as he played a beautiful pull shot straight past back to the bowler and then Anuj Rawat flicked one toward the square leg boundary for a humongous six. The southpaw batter Anuj Rawat is playing a crucial knock for RCB. He came under the bouncer and guided it towards fine leg boundary for four. Many have questioned Rachin Ravindra's selection over Moeen Ali, but he must have answered all of them with two spectacular catches in the deep including RCB's former and current skippers Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis. Mustafizur Rahman comes back into the attack and strikes twice in the over again. He first removed Virat Kohli, who got out with a stupendous catch by Rachin Ravindra in the deep mid-wicket and then clean-bowled Green, who tried to make room to play one on the off side.
