Hyderabad:The makers of Kantara: Chapter 1 have issued a clarification regarding recent reports of a minibus accident involving crew members. Contrary to reports that the production was halted, the team confirmed that the shoot was progressing as planned. The incident occurred on Sunday, November 24, near Jadkal, when a minibus carrying 20 junior artists overturned while returning to Kollur after filming at Mudoor.
In a statement, the team clarified, "The news making rounds is completely false. The Kantara: Chapter 1 team began shooting at 6 AM today, and everything is proceeding as normal. A minor accident occurred 20 kilometres away from the shooting location, involving a local bus carrying some members of the Kantara team. However, no injuries were reported."
According to a news agency report, the injured crew members were transported to hospitals in Jadkal and Kundapur for medical evaluation. The Kollur police have launched an investigation into the accident.
Meanwhile, the production team has constructed a custom studio in Kundapur to recreate the grandeur of the Kadamba Empire, an essential setting for the film. The prequel to the 2022 blockbuster Kantara, directed and headlined by Rishab Shetty, is expected to explore the origins of the folklore thriller. The highly anticipated film is slated to release on October 2, 2025.
