Los Angeles (US): Emma Stone is now a two-time Oscar winner, having won Best Actress for Poor Things. Emma Stone won Best Actress at the 2024 Oscars for her work in the film Poor Things. Emma defeated Annette Bening (Nyad), Lily Gladstone (Killers of the Flower Moon), Sandra Huller (Anatomy of a Fall), and Carey Mulligan (Maestro) for the Oscar running.
Taking to X, The Academy said, "And the Oscar for Best Actress goes to... Emma Stone!" Receiving her award, an emotional Emma quipped: "The other night, I was panicking -- as you can see, this happens a lot -- that something like this could happen, and Yorgos (Lanthimos) said to me, please take yourself out of it. And he was correct; it's not about me. It's about a team that worked together to create something bigger than the sum of its parts."
Emma complimented Poor Things director Yorgos Lanthimos, saying, "Thank you for the gift of a lifetime in Bella Baxter." This marks the actor's second Oscar win as she had previously won the Best Actor Female for La La Land in 2017. At the 96th Academy Awards, Poor Things also won gold in the categories of Best Production Design, Best Costume Design, and Best Makeup and Hairstyling.
