Gurugram:SpiceJet has been granted the rights to operate Haj flights for the 2025 season from Kolkata, Guwahati, Srinagar and Gaya. The airline is set to carry approximately 15,500 pilgrims, an 18% increase from the 13,000 pilgrims it carried in 2024. The operation is likely to generate Rs 185 crore in revenue, highlighting the significance of Haj services as a key component of SpiceJet’s business strategy.

The airline will operate over 100 special flights using a combination of narrow-body and wide-body aircraft to accommodate the increased number of pilgrims. In 2024, SpiceJet deployed two Airbus A340 wide-body aircraft with a seating capacity of 324 passengers each, ensuring a smooth and comfortable journey for travellers. For the upcoming season, the airline has committed to further enhancing its services to meet the needs of the growing pilgrim base.

Debojo Maharshi, Chief Business Officer of SpiceJet, emphasised the importance of these operations, stating, “Haj operations are not just a significant revenue generator for SpiceJet, but also a matter of immense pride. We are honoured to contribute to such an important and spiritual journey for thousands of pilgrims and are fully committed to delivering a seamless, comfortable and memorable travel experience. SpiceJet has always prioritised the needs of our passengers, and our dedicated Haj operations are a testament to that commitment.”

SpiceJet has been operating special Haj flights since 2019, and the addition of these four cities in 2025 underscores its growing role in facilitating religious travel. This expansion comes at a time when demand for organised and efficient Haj travel continues to rise across the country.

The airline’s commitment to managing this operation efficiently reflects its aim to ensure that pilgrims can focus on their spiritual journey without logistical challenges. As one of India’s key private carriers involved in Haj services, SpiceJet’s ongoing efforts contribute significantly to making this important pilgrimage accessible to thousands of people each year.
