Agartala:The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Monday decided to beef up security arrangements for the Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi and their Deputy and Assistant High Commissions in the country.
“The incident earlier today of the breach of premises at the Bangladesh Assistant High Commission in Agartala is deeply regrettable. Diplomatic and consular properties should not be targeted under any circumstances. Government is taking action to step up security arrangements for the Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi and their Deputy/Assistant High Commissions in the country”, read the MEA statement.
The decision was taken after a right wing group stormed inside the office of the Bangladesh Assistant High Commissions in Agartala and reportedly burnt the flag of the national flag of Bangladesh and created ruckus when they were staging a protest against the attack on minorities and arrest of ISKCON member Chinmoy Das Prabhu.
Earlier in the morning, a massive protest took place outside the Bangladesh Assistant High Commission in Agartala, where demonstrators staged a sit-in against alleged atrocities on Hindu minorities in Bangladesh and demanded the immediate release of ISKCON member Chinmoy Das Prabhu.
