Body Of Abducted Territorial Army Soldier Found in Anantnag

A Territorial Army soldier was abducted by terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir's Anantnag. One soldier escaped but sustained injuries and has been hospitalised.

Anantnag (Jammu and Kashmir): Security forces on Wednesday recovered the bullet-ridden body of a missing soldier from the Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir, officials said here.

The body of Territorial Army jawan Hilal Ahmad Bhat, who was reported missing on Tuesday from Shah, was recovered from the Sanglan forest area in the Utrasoo area of Anantnag, the officials said. They said the body had been taken to a hospital for medical formalities. Security forces had launched a massive search operation to trace the jawan.

"Based on intelligence input, a joint counter-terrorist operation was launched by #IndianArmy alongwith @JmuKmrPolice & other agencies in Kazwan Forest # Kokernag on 08 Oct 24. The operation continued overnight as one soldier of Territorial Army was reported missing," Srinagar-based Chinar Corps of the Army posted on X.

Two soldiers were taken captive but one managed to escape. The other soldier, Fayaz Ahmed Sheikh, who escaped, sustained injuries during the incident. Sheikh was treated for wounds to his shoulder and left leg and has been transferred to the 92 Base Hospital in Srinagar for further treatment.
