Kanniyakumari(Tamil Nadu): Just weeks ahead of the crucial Lok Sabha elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday kicked off BJP's campaign in South by addressing a public meeting in Tamil Nadu's Kanyakumari where he targeted DMK and Congress alleging these two parties are united in their aim to 'loot' people.
He also said that the DMK was the 'biggest beneficiary' of the 2G Spectrum scam. While the BJP has development initiatives to showcase to people, the PM said, opposition bloc INDIA only has 'scams' attached to its name. He went on to detail such scams saying the 'list is big'.
Targeting Tamil Nadu's ruling DMK, he said, "The DMK harbours hatred towards the country, its culture and heritage. The Dravidian party is an enemy of Tamil Nadu. It has no respect for its culture." He further said the DMK and Congress are anti-women and they only befooled and insulted women.
Appearing to be soft towards Tamil Nadu's main opposition AIADMK, Modi said people knew how the DMK treated late Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa and added that such a tradition is being continued by the party even today. He also pointed out that the state 'banned' the broadcast of the recent inauguration of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. Modi said the Central government was 'fast tracking' many initiatives for the Kanyakumari district.
