Lok Sabha proceedings were adjourned till 1 pm on Thursday amid a verbal duel between BJP and Congress members over the issue of the main opposition party's alleged links with US businessman George Soros and the Adani row.
The House took up the entire Question Hour, but trouble broke out in the Zero Hour when the chair called Congress member Jothimani to raise his issue.
As the Congress member made a reference to the alleged links between a prominent industrialist and the BJP, presiding officer Jagdambika Pal's remark that the businessman's name will not go on records triggered protests from the opposition.
Congress member K C Venugopal sought to know whether the rule was selectively applicable for references made by opposition party members.
Venugopal said Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal had made certain references in the Lok Sabha which were not expunged by the chair.

Parliament Winter Session Day 13 LIVE: Kalyan Banerjee Submits Written Apology For Remarks Against Union Minister Scindia
Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Thursday said that TMC MP Kalyan Banerjee has submitted a written apology for his remarks against Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia besides apologising in the House.
As soon as the House met, some members belonging to the ruling alliance stood up to raise the issue of the remarks made by Banerjee.
However, Birla intervened and said whatever happened on Wednesday was unfortunate and no member should make any personal remark against any fellow member.
Without taking the name of Banerjee, he said any remark against women is in bad taste and it hurts their dignity and honour.
The speaker said agreements and disagreements are part of the democratic process but no member should make any personal remark against anyone.
"The member concerned had apologised (in the House). He has also given me in writing too," he said and started with the day's proceedings.
On Wednesday, there were verbal clashes when Banerjee was speaking in the House during a discussion on the amendments to the Disaster Management Act.
The TMC member had alleged non-cooperation by the central government during the COVID-19 pandemic, but Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai countered it, saying it was Prime Minister Narendra Modi who helped all the states and successfully handled the crisis by taking everyone along.
Rai also alleged that the West Bengal government tried to put hurdles in the transportation of the Covid vaccines through the state.
Scindia stood up to support Rai, saying that India had emerged as a "Vishwa Bandhu" during the pandemic and helped all the needy countries across the world.
Following this, Banerjee attacked Scindia and made certain remarks against the minister which were expunged by the Speaker after an uproar.
The verbal spat between the treasury and opposition benches led to adjournment.
When the House reconvened, Banerjee apologised for his remarks, but Scindia refused to accept it, saying the opposition members should desist from making personal attacks.
"Mr Kalyan Banerjee rose in this House and said sorry. But I will say that we all come to this House with the spirit of contributing to the nation's development... but we also come with a sense of self-respect.
"Any individual in their lives will not stand compromising with their self-respect. Attack us on our policies, on our views, but if you will get personal, certainly be prepared for the response," the Union minister said.
"He has apologised... I do not accept his apology for the personal attack that he had made on me and on the women of India," he said.
Banerjee apologised again but protests from treasury benches continued leading to two more adjournments of the House.

Parliament Winter Session Day 13 LIVE: Opposition Protests With 'Desh Bikne Nahi Denge' Placards, Demands JPC On Adani Issue
Several opposition MPs on Thursday staged a protest inside Parliament complex carrying placards of different Hindi letters that jointly read 'desh bikne nahin denge' and raised slogans to reiterate their demand of a joint parliamentary probe into the Adani issue.
This is the latest in a series of unusual daily demonstrations led by the Congress over the Adani issue.
Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, MPs from the Congress, DMK, and the Left parties, among others, stood in front of the Makar Dwar steps and in front of Samvidhan Sadan with most of them carrying the placards that together read 'desh bikne nahin denge (will not let the country be sold off)'.
They raised slogans against the alleged collusion between Modi and Adani and demanded a joint parliamentary committee (JPC) probe into the matter.
On Wednesday, several opposition MPs greeted their BJP counterparts in Parliament premises with a tricolour in the form of a card in one hand and a red rose in the other, as they urged the ruling party to ensure that the House functions and all issues, including the Adani matter, are discussed.
Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi also offered the tricolour in the form of a card to Defence Minister Rajnath Singh when the latter was entering the main Parliament building.
On Tuesday, MPs carried dark blue 'jholas' with caricatures of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and industrialist Gautam Adani printed on one side and "Modi-Adani Bhai-Bhai" written on the obverse.
On Monday, leaders of some INDIA bloc parties had protested in Parliament complex over the Adani row, with Rahul Gandhi conducting a mock "interview" over the issue with Congress members wearing masks of Modi and Adani.
The opposition protests on the Adani issue have been taking place in Parliament complex since the start of the Winter session.
The Congress and some other opposition parties have been demanding a JPC probe following the indictment of Adani and other company officials in a US court.
The Congress has said Adani's indictment "vindicates" its demand for a JPC probe into the various "scams" involving the billionaire industrialist's conglomerate.
Rahul Gandhi has sought Adani's immediate arrest.
The Adani Group has dismissed all allegations as "baseless".
