Bareilly:A major case has come to light in Bareilly district, Uttar Pradesh, where a woman from Pakistan managed to secure a government teaching job. She was appointed as an assistant teacher in 2015 using fake certificates. Following an investigation, which revealed the fraud, she was suspended in October 2024 by the District Basic Education Officer. An FIR has now been registered against her.
The Block Education Officer of Fatehganj West lodged a complaint with the police against the dismissed assistant teacher, Shumayla Khan. She is accused of obtaining the position by submitting a forged birth and residence certificate.
The issue came to light after a confidential complaint was filed with Bareilly District Magistrate Ravindra Kumar. The SDM's report confirmed that Shumayla Khan is a Pakistani citizen and the residence certificate she submitted was fake.
In the wake of this, the District Basic Education Officer suspended Shumayla Khan from her position as an assistant teacher on October 3, 2024. Following this, the Block Education Officer, Fatehganj West, instructed the SHO Fatehganj West to register an FIR on January 10, 2025. The complaint alleges that Shumayla Khan secured a government job using forged documents, a punishable offence.
BSA Sanjay Singh confirmed that Shumayla, a Pakistani citizen, had secured her position in Bareilly in 2015 using fake documents. She had been posted at Primary School Madhopur and had received lakhs of rupees as salary over the years. She has now been removed from her position as of her appointment date. SP North Mukesh Chandra Mishra added that a case has been registered against Shumayla Khan at the Fatehganj West police station under relevant sections.
