New Delhi: A liquid was thrown on former Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convener Arvind Kejriwal during a Padayatra in the Greater Kailash area here on Saturday.
During the Padyatra of former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in Delhi's Greater Kailash assembly constituency, a person, who is bus marshall, tried to throw a liquid on Kejriwal on Saturday. The accused youth was caught by the security personnel and thrashed on the spot.
The incident took place as the political fight between Aam Aadmi Party and BJP has intensified ahead of the upcoming assembly elections in Delhi. Both the parties are attacking each other. Of late, Kejriwal has been continuously attacking the BJP over the security arrangements in Delhi and is also targeting Home Minister Amit Shah.
MLA of Greater Kailash and Health Minister of Delhi Government Sourav Bharadwaj was present with him in this Padyatra. There were security personnel on both sides and there was a fence on both sides. Arvind Kejriwal was walking in the middle when the man threw the liquid, however, the policemen caught him.
The AAP blamed the BJP for the attack on Kejriwal, who is on bail. AAP leader Saurabh Bharadwaj said, "The BJP leaders campaign in all the states, but they are not attacked. There are repeated attacks on Arvind Kejriwal. The BJP orchestrated an attack on him in Nagolai, then in Chhatarpur. The law and order is finished in Delhi and the Union Home Minister (Amit Shah) is not doing anything about it."
Delhi Chief Minister Atishi said that the BJP workers have attacked Kejriwal. "The BJP is fearing that they will be defeated in the Delhi Assembly polls. The people of Delhi will take revenge of this act by the BJP. They had lost eight seats last time. This time, the Delhites will give the BJP zero seats."
AAP condemned the attack in its official post (Hindi) on X, "Shameless BJP again got Kejriwal attacked during the padyatra for raising questions on the deteriorating law and order situation in Delhi. Amit Shah's failure has once again become public. There is no rule of law in Delhi, but the rule of BJP goons. If a former Chief Minister is not safe in the country's capital, then what will happen to the common man?"
AAP further said that the law and order situation in Delhi has completely collapsed under the BJP rule.
