Srinagar: After winning the Budgam seat, the National Conference Vice President was declared the winner of the Ganderbal assembly seat by a margin of more than 10,000 votes. He got a total of 32,727 votes, beating his nearest opponent Bashir Ahmad Mir of the Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Democratic.
Mir came second, earning 22,153 votes, while Ishfaq Ahmad Sheikh (Independent) and Qaiser Sultan Ganaie of Democratic Progressive Azad Party came third and fourth, receiving 6060 and 3781 votes, respectively.
