J&K: One Security Personnel Killed in Kathua's Second Encounter with Militants at Kog Village

A second encounter broke out in Jammu and Kashmir's Kathua when the security forces were conducting a joint search operation in the Kog Mandli village. The gunfight left a security personnel dead and several others injured. The security reinforcements were rushed to the spot following a heavy exchange of fire.

Kathua (Jammu and Kashmir): Yet another encounter erupted between militants and security forces in the Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday. This gunfight began in the Kog Mandli Village. In this gunfight, one security personnel was killed and several others were injured.

Assistant Director General Of Police Anand Jain said that based on specific intelligence about presence of terrorist, a joint search operation was launched by the security forces at village Kog (Mandli) under the jurisdiction of the Billawar Police Station in Kathua. The Contact has been established and few rounds have been fired from both sides while the area cordoned off, said ADGP Anand Jain.

Police sources said that the joint team of the security forces approached the suspicious spot, the hiding militants fired upon the search party, triggering off a gunfight and more reinforcements have been rushed to the spot. The identity of the slain security personnel is not revealed yet.

Earlier in the day, several terrorists were killed while some security forces personnel were injured in a gunfight between terrorists and security forces at Adigam village in Kulgam. This encounter began during the morning hours. In a post on social media, the Kashmir Zone police said that this encounter has started at Adigam Devsar area of Kulgam.
