Here you can see a variety of things: it could be an old billiard table that was built from a car or the exhibition of cars from the 1920s from Berlin. We want to get the old Berlin feeling of the 1920s and give that to visitors."

"I think the cars back then were built with much more passion. They were built for other reasons. Maybe someone didn't find the car they wanted, like in he case of Ferdinand Porsche. He was looking for a specific car, didn't find it so he built it himself. The passion and the drive was different. That's why the cars from this time have more heart, more soul and more spirit."

They offered it to me but I couldn't imagine what it could look like put together. Then the old man showed me a picture and then I said 'I have to have this car'. Then I went to Berlin, got a trailer and money and then I went to get it."

They are unpractical, expensive and, compared to modern counterparts, slow and fuel guzzling.
But classic cars are also a passion for many, and for them the Motorworld Classic car show in Berlin is a hotspot.
STORYLINE
You wouldn't use this car to head down to the supermarket for a bottle of milk.
This Mercedes Cabriolet 333d 189 from 1961, is not the most expensive car here at the Motorworld classics show in Berlin, but it is one of the most striking.
It could be yours for 189,000 Euro, but what you are buying is of course a museum piece that you might only take out on the roads one or twice a year, when the conditions are perfect and there is no risk of damage that might be irreparable.
This is Motorworld Classics, a car show where no-one talks about the next big selling car or the latest in engineering and technology.
Here, it is all about passion for old cars, but the show also tries to create a fun atmosphere, says Ulf Schulz, Motorworld classics project manager.
"No, this is not a normal car show. Motorworld classic is all about enjoyment and passion. We are a show that both men and women can enjoy. We are not an oil covered screws and details show," he says.
"Here you can see a variety of things: it could be an old billiard table that was built from a car or the exhibition of cars from the 1920s from Berlin. We want to get the old Berlin feeling of the 1920s and give that to visitors."
Around 30 000 visitors are expected to the Berlin exhibition grounds for the show, that is running for the fifth time in the German capital.
The age of the cars range from nearly 100 years, to relatively newer models from the 1970s.
What unites them, according to Schulz, is a passion that new cars sometimes miss.
"I think the cars back then were built with much more passion. They were built for other reasons. Maybe someone didn't find the car they wanted, like in he case of Ferdinand Porsche. He was looking for a specific car, didn't find it so he built it himself. The passion and the drive was different. That's why the cars from this time have more heart, more soul and more spirit," he says.
One car that certainly has both passion and spirit is this  BMW 319 Roadster from 1936.
But it also has a dark past that mirrors that of Germany itself.
It was built in 1936, during the Nazi regime of Adolf Hitler, and many were used for the rallies and demonstrations where the Nazi leaders would travel through the crowds in cabriolets (open topped cars)
In total six 468 BMW 319 Roadsters were produced before the Second World War.
After the war this car ended up in Leipzig, in East Germany, part of the occupied Soviet zone.
The owner wanted to use it for racing, but the East German authorities said that only East German and Soviet made cars could represent East Germany in racing competitions.
So, it was taken apart, and left in a heap in a corner of a garage until the fall of the Berlin Wall and the reunification of Germany.
In 1990 Bernd-Dieter Jaeger (German spelling Jäger), traveled from former West Berlin to Leipzig to look for classical cars to buy, he came across the BMW 319 Roadster in a garage, but couldn't imagine how it could be put together until one of the old people in the garage showed him a photo.
He decided to buy the car, and then spent 20 years restoring it.
Now it is a collectors item. He doesn't want to say how much it is valued at, but he knows he doesn't want to sell.
"I'm not offering it. I don't want to sell it. I have had a valuation and so on, and of course everybody here knows what it is worth. But I don't think I'll sell. As long as I can get in and out of it."
Another car with a history is this Brennabor Ideal car from 1929.
Before the Second World War, Brennabor was a major company in Germany.
It was located in the city of Brandenburg, and started in the 19th century with bike productions before moving on to baby prams and then cars.
The company made about 10 000 Brennabor Ideal cars, and only a few are still drivable.
"There are still about 60 Brennabors that are known and could potentially be driven. Most people that own a Brennabors are actually older than the cars themselves," says Juergen Schildhauer (German spelling Jürgen), a Brennabor enthusiast that spent years restoring this Brennabor Ideal.
It has a top speed of about 75 kilometers per hour, not a car that you would take on the German Autobahn in other words.
But that doesn't matter, says Schildhauer, it is the excitement of restoring an old car that is the whole point of the hobby.
"It is fun to work with old technology. It is exciting. It is just primitive, straight forward, you don't need a mechatronic specialist, you can do everything, or at least almost everything, on your own.
They are easy to repair and they are fun to drive," he says.
The Motorworld Classics car show in Berlin opened in the evening of November 20 and runs through November 24.
