Quentin Tarantino to focus on fatherhood

Quentin Tarantino, whose latest release Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is sweeping major honours this award season, feels he need to priorities his personal life over career.

Los Angeles: Hollywood maverick Quentin Tarantino now wants to focus on being a dad.

The 56-year-old filmmaker's wife Daniella Pick is pregnant with the couple's first child, and Tarantino feels it is high time to priorities his personal life over career, reports femalefirst.co.uk.

In an interview with the website Popcorn, Tarantino said: "I kind of feel this is the time for the third act (of my life) to just lean a little bit more into the literary, which would be good as a new father, as a new husband.

"I wouldn't be grabbing my family and yanking them to Germany or Sri Lanka or wherever the next story takes place. I can be a little bit more of a homebody and become a little bit more of a man of letters."

Tarantino, who is known for genre-bending films such as Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction and Django Unchained, feels he has had his time in Hollywood.

"I guess I do feel that directing is a young man's game. I do feel that cinema is changing and I'm a little bit part of the old guard," he said.

Earlier, Tarantino said he almost chose to hold back his latest release Once Upon a Time in Hollywood and make it his swansong after previously vowing to step away from filmmaking after completing his 10th movie.

"In a strange way, it seems like this movie, 'Hollywood', would be my last," he said of his ninth film. "So, I've kind of taken the pressure off myself to make that last big voila kind of statement. I mean, to such a degree there was a moment when I was writing (it) and went, 'Should I do this now? Should I do something else? Is this the 10th one?' "

Tarantino decided not to delay the project unnecessarily, and although he still plans to bow out after movie number 10, he doesn't think his final film will be another big production, like Once Upon a Time in Hollywood was.
